Blogging for 10 Years

Happy Blogiversary to M. Denise Costello! 

What a milestone! Before the year ends, I want to acknowledge that I have been blogging for more than 10 years. The actual 10-Year Blogiversary date was July 11, 2018. I think of this blog as sometimes a creative outlet, sometimes a book review site for new books, sometimes a travel photo journal, and mostly a true weblog of what’s going on in my life. With the popularity of Facebook and other social media, my blog has suffered. My reading has also suffered due to social media and work. Hopefully, I will remedy these situations in 2019. 

I have learned much from blogging. My blog was created on Blogger, and later I switched to WordPress after getting a web domain. None of the process was easy, but I persevered through the process with some help.

My favorite blogging exercise has been participating in the A to Z Challenge the past few years in April. During this challenge, I always have found new blogs and made new blogging friends. So many talented and creative people are on the internet. I have met a few authors via blogging and now could not imagine missing any of their books. Also, where I live, Dallas, Texas, USA, I  am fortunate to get to attend some great author and book events. I will be attending the Mayborn Conference that focuses on non-fiction writing this year. I try to attend every other year since July is a great travel month for me due to the business cycle at my work. This conference is run by the University of North Texas Mayborn School of Journalism.
