Welcome to the last posting of the A to Z Challenge. I cannot believe I made it through to the end of this challenge. Other bloggers posts were interesting and entertaining to read. I intend to participate next year and will be thinking of a month-long theme for 2015.
I’ve always loved police and detective shows and one of the earliest I remember is The F.B.I. starring Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. Some interesting facts about Zimbalist:
-
he was born in New York, NY and went to Yale
-
his mother was an opera singer (Alma Gluck) who was born as Reba Feinsohn in Iaşi, Romania
-
his father was a Russian concert violinist
-
he has 3 children, one of which is actress Stephanie Zimbalist
-
he was born to non-practicing Jewish parents, raised Episcopalian, studied Transcendental Meditation for many years, became a born-again Christian, and has now returned to the Episcopal church
-
he began acting in 1945 and the last work he did was in 2008
-
he served in World War II from 1941 to 1946 and earned a Purple Heart; he was wounded at Huertgen Forest
-
his first wife died of cancer in 1950 and his second wife, Stephanie, died in 2007
-
Zimbalist is 6 feet tall and 95 years old

Interesting man, Denise, and quite the background (violinist father from Russia, wow). I’m glad to read you plan on participating again. Congratulations on completing this year’s challenge — a big blogging accomplishment, no question. I’ve so enjoyed coming in here and reading your posts. Learned so much, followed the person you featured yesterday. Had a blast. Thank you for your friendship — means a lot. I’ll see you around.
Silvia, It has been my pleasure following your blog and getting to know you! I am happy you will be following Yoani, too. I thought that you would comment on his mother being from Romania ;-). Thanks again for the encouragement and inspiration. xoxo, Denise
I am sad to report that Mr. Zimbalist has died in the last day.
